Freelance Event Prompt Operators – available

A Prompt Operator (often called an Autocue or Teleprompter Operator) is the person who controls the scrolling script text that presenters or talent read during a live event.

They’re the ones who make sure every word appears at the right speed, giving speakers confidence and keeping the show flowing.

What They Do

Prompt Operators set up and manage prompting systems, loading in scripts and formatting them for clear readability.

During rehearsals, they work closely with presenters to adjust speed, spacing and pacing so the delivery feels natural. In the live show, they control the scroll – moving forward, pausing or adjusting instantly to match the presenter’s delivery. When the presenter’s adlib, as they are prone to do, a Prompt Operator will hold their nerve, knowing, when ready, the presenter will return to the script and be back on track.

If scripts change, the Prompt Operator edits on the fly, ensuring the updated version is ready the moment it’s needed.

Skills They Bring

  • Technical skill – operating autocue systems reliably
  • Attention to detail – formatting and editing scripts
  • Adaptability – adjusting to presenter pace in real time
  • Discretion – supporting presenters calmly and quietly

Why You Need a Prompt Operator

Without a Prompt Operator, presenters can stumble, lose their place, or rush through lines awkwardly. With one, they look polished, confident and in control.

They are also able to deliver difficult or repetitive messages without getting confused or forgetting to say something important. In some corporate events this may be crucial to make sure the audience understands the message that is being conveyed.

In short: a Prompt Operator gives your presenters the confidence to shine.
