Puppy Chaos vs October chaos?
Both are jam-packed full of energy, unpredictable, and a bit bitey.
And both test your patience far more than you thought possible.
Last week’s madness…
Lots of London-based awards, a sneak peek press event for a new film, and some funky new venues.
Out of 12 events last week, 11 were in London, nearly all requiring a Showcaller.
The one not in London? Magna in Sheffield – it’s been a while!
Who doesn’t love a stay in a slightly ropey hotel and a kebab in Rotherham?
This week’s lineup?
16 events this week, mixing roles: Showcallers, Event Assistants, Sound, Production Managers, Graphics, and a Show Producer.

And this isn’t even the busiest week coming up in October!
Puppy Update…
Thanks to week one of puppy training, we’ve had more joy and less frustration.
Four months old and still in little terror mode, but thankfully those sharp teeth are starting to fall out!
He clearly needs a few more snacks to stop him eating the doormat.
Daily practice continues – wish me luck!
Survival tips for October…
Busy season may not be life or death – but it can feel that way if you don’t have a plan.
Some event survival basics:
- Plan your washing: lucky conference pants matter
- Take the accommodation: don’t risk driving while exhausted
- Stay hydrated: yes, that’s water, not always coffee and beer
- Limit the Haribo and aim for more than just beige food when possible
I jest, but it’s full-on and knackering. We need to be careful out there.
