What’s on my mind…
From all the chats I’ve had this past couple of weeks, it’s clear that June 2025 has been a month and a half.
It’s always a busy month, but this year? It’s been absolutely nuts. Like, soooo mental.
When I saw yet another request for the same week drop into my inbox, here’s the email I sent back to the client…
“I think the week of June 23rd is officially the most sought-after and busiest week in the history of the universe.
I tried not to swear when I saw the dates in your email!
I’m still hopeful I can sort it for you… bear with me while I check availabilities.”
And guess what? By the skin of my teeth, I sorted it!
Just a few more weeks and we all might get a bit of a rest!
Last week at Maverick HQ…
I’m pretty sure the week before last, was the busiest week I’ve ever had.
We pulled off 17 jobs and had 22 people out on events.
Just in one week!
From LED technicians to Stage Managers, Showcallers, Project Coordinators, Zoom Operators, and Installation techs… it’s been all hands on deck!
How’s it been for you?
I was so busy, I had written this email ready to send and completely forgot to send it!
Freelancer Spotlight…
This week, an event needed both a Showcaller and a Stage Manager.
I was able to send two of our finest, and the feedback I got afterwards was so lovely.
The Showcaller was called a “legend,” and the Stage Manager was described as “phenomenal.”
Cue the proper heart-warming mummy moment!

Reflection…
We’re all human, and there’s only so much we can do before we hit breaking point.
As a Showcaller… and the person who saves everyone else’s bacon… I see so many different situations.
I watch people running on fumes, pushed to do more and more with little or no sleep.
I see events limp from start to finish, held together by the freelance glue we’ve sent their way.
I see many of those same crew members, especially the PMs, go straight onto back to back events.
With no time off and very little rest.
They’ve often been up all night, pulled in every direction. They are on the edge… physically, mentally, and emotionally.
This is when things break and mistakes happen.
We all love the industry we work in… that’s why we do it.
But let’s not forget to look after our people and each other.
So, next time you’re planning, don’t forget to check in with your team and take a bit of a breather.
